Frozen crystals fall silently down,
As dreams overtake the world.
A white blanket coats the chilly ground,
Winter is finally at the door.
The world awakes and snuggles in,
Wrapping blankets tightly around.
Morning coffees and hot breakfast meals,
Warm the bellies of all around.
Shovels and brooms awake from the shed,
Pushing, scraping, and clearing.
Mankind clears the way for a new day,
Slipping and sliding back into routines.
A frozen world slows but doesn’t stop,
Life thaws and continues on.
As day turns to eve quickly with the solstice sun,
Refuge is found under blankets again.
