RIC’s radio station does it again: WXINstock 2025 in review

Rhode Island College’s own student-run radio station, 90.7 WXIN, returned loud and proud this fall semester with their first event of the year: WXINstock 2025. Missed it? The Anchor has prepared a play-by-play so hopefully you will not want to skip out on RIC’s next campus concert.

WXINstock, similar to its namesake, Woodstock, is an annual music festival featuring four local bands. This year’s lineup: Snow in September, Hallway, Norfork and Plastyc Peachez rocked RIC last Friday, bringing a night of music and fun to an estimated 250 students and guests on the Quad.

Beside dancing on the campus green, WXINstock attendees were treated to appearances by local businesses POP-UP PVD and California Taco Shop. On one end of the Quad, thrifters sorted through racks of vintage clothing brought to us by POP-UP in collaboration with RIC’s Environmental Club. On the other end, students enjoyed tacos, burritos and more while listening to four musical guests.

It was Snow in September’s first time playing at RIC. Despite being made up of Providence College students, Snow in September found fans at their neighboring school. Frontwoman Madeline Azar serenaded her audience with a melodic take on rock n’ roll. Hallway followed Snow in September, another new face at RIC, providing a setlist of original indie rock that got the crowd on their feet. Students and guests alike excitedly joined WXIN members in front of the stage, laughing and letting loose.

“Hi RIC, we are Norfork. As in spoon,” began Norfork’s lead singer Rook, only to be met by the audience’s passionate “nor fork,” in reply. Norfork, a participating band in last year’s RIC event, Rock Hunt, came next. Reminding campus of their unique alternative sound: self-proclaimed east coast emo. Norfork rallied the audience and we quickly opened the pit.

The night lengthened and the air buzzed with a familiar energy as WXINstock’s final act took center stage. Met with a resounding applause, Plastyc Peachez’s primary vocalist and guitarist Wyatt Grant was ready to return to RIC with a collection of original music both new and old. Dedicated fans sang along to an array of tunes, particularly “Toy Yoda Thong,” a ballad that audience members sang their hearts out to.

“We played our second ever gig here at RIC. And we’ve been a band for four years… We hope to keep coming back” Grant sentimentally told the crowd. By now, the Quad was teeming with life and laughter, making for a memorable evening as Plastyc Peachez played the final set: an upbeat play on pop-punk fever.

WXIN is set to return on Oct. 3 to begin this year’s series of monthly concerts. Tune into the club Instagram to get updates on upcoming shows so there is no chance to miss out.
