Rhode Island College’s very own Shoreline Literature and Arts Magazine is currently accepting submissions for their spring issue. Entries are open until Friday, Feb. 25.

The types of work that are eligible include, but are not limited to, poetry, prose poetry, flash fiction, short stories, creative nonfiction, photography and artwork. Submissions are open for students to enter in each of the four categories.

This is a great opportunity for writers and artists at RIC to showcase their talents outside of a classroom setting and to build a portfolio for future employers. Having a published piece looks amazing on a resume. Shoreline is looking for fresh voices that are compelling and thought provoking. If you have any work you’d love to show off, please don’t hesitate to submit.

At the upcoming Student Activities Day, Shoreline will have a table for anyone who has any further questions regarding submissions. Copies of the 2020 and 2021 magazine are available for those who are interested.

Submission Guidelines are as listed below:

  • For poetry, submit up to five poems in a docx or PDF file.

  • For fiction, submit up to three pieces of flash fiction or one short story at a time (totaling no more than 6,000 words). All of the pieces should be in the same double-spaced document. Docx or PDF are accepted.

  • For creative nonfiction, submit one piece of creative nonfiction of up to 6,000 words, double-spaced. Docx or PDF are accepted.

  • For art/photography, art pieces must be scanned in. Submit up to five photographs. Files must be attached as .jpg in CYMK format.

Shoreline only requires you to be a RIC student to enter. Both undergraduate and graduate students can submit entries. Please only submit original, unpublished work.

Submissions need to be emailed to ric.shoreline@gmail.com. In the subject line of the email please include your name and the category you are submitting for. Entries do not need the name within the document. If submitting to different categories, please send separate emails. Shoreline hopes to review your work soon.
