“Homecoming, Alumni & Family weekend is one of the biggest celebrations of the year at RIC,” wrote Dean of Students Ted Zito in his email promoting the event.
RIC’s Homecoming/Alumni and Family Weekend will take place October 17th-18th. This event, formerly titled RICFest, is run by RIC’s Alumni Association each year in the fall. RICFest previously featured a festival on the Quad, with activities such as free food and arts and crafts. However this year the Alumni Association plans to make the event even bigger.
On Friday, Oct. 17 in Alger 110 at 11:30 a.m. the Golden Anchors Brunch will be hosted for those alumni who graduated in or before 1976. At 7:30 p.m. Koresh Dance Company will have a performance of “Hollow Apple” in Sapinsley Hall.

On Saturday, Oct. 18 is when the majority of the weekend’s events will be held. Tables will be provided across the Quad for people to bring food and enjoy entertainment. There will also be a beer garden set up for those 21 and up. At 12 p.m., there will be a pottery workshop in Alex and Ani Hall as well as a tour of the campus beehive and greenhouse.
There will also be a family festival on the Quad featuring a petting zoo, performers, arts and crafts as well as a golf cart float parade run by the student organizations.
At 4-7 p.m. Donovan will host the Donovan Shore Dinner Hall, serving New England style lobster, kielbasa, corn and New England clam chowder. This event costs $25 for students and $30 for faculty, staff and alumni. Family karaoke will also be hosted by John Rush.
At 7-8 p.m. Anchor Madness will be hosted in the Recreation Center. Anchor Madness is the official tipoff of the Women’s and Men’s Basketball seasons, where the teams will be showing off their skills.
Culminating the weekend is a concert from 20RIDE!, proclaimed as “America’s #1 Zac Brown Tribute Band.” This concert will be held in the Recreation Center from 8:30-10 p.m. Tickets cost $15 each and can be purchased here.
All events, with some exceptions, are open to the public. Find all events and register here.
