Monday, April 13
Men’s golf @ Roger Williams Invitational (two days) (Bristol, RI) – 8th of nine (334, 315; +85)
The Anchormen improved through the two-day invitational, but it wasn’t enough to escape the bottom three pool. The Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth, RI was a par-71, while the Aquidneck Golf Club also in Portsmouth was a par-70 course. Fourth-year Jasper Bruins Slot swung a two-day total score of 150 (78, 72; +9) to tie for third.

Tuesday, April 14
Baseball @ University of Massachusetts Dartmouth – L, 7-1
Third-year shortstop Parker Camelo scored the Anchormen’s lone run in the fourth inning, which was the first run of the game. The Corsairs rallied right after and collected all seven runs in the next three innings. First-year pitcher Jace Wolfradt in 4.1 innings of work had six strikeouts and was given the loss.
Softball vs Western Connecticut State University
Game one: W, 10-7
Third-year pinch hitter Olivia Brett had the game-winning RBI as the Anchorwomen survived a game one shootout against Little East Conference opponent Western Connecticut. Third-year right fielder Sydney Duclos went 3-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and three RBI. Fourth-year pitcher Gabby Cunha worked 2.1 innings and allowed only one hit to secure the victory.
Game two: W, 12-1
WestConn surrendered eight runs in the first two innings to bring the game into mercy-rule territory. The Wolves’ lone run in the third didn’t mirror the hot bats from the visitors in game one. Third-year left fielder Melanie Earley went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Cunha continued onto game two and hurled the complete game with three K’s.
Wednesday, April 15
Women’s lacrosse vs Western Connecticut State University – L, 24-6
The game entered running clock in the first quarter as the visitors scored 11 goals during the opening frame, continuing to a 17-0 lead at the half. Third-year midfielder Lily Nees punched in three goals for her seventh hat trick of the season. Second-year goalkeeper Abaigeal Estano had five saves in defeat.
Men’s tennis vs Western Connecticut State University – W, 6-1
Right outside Alumni Stadium, the men’s tennis team secured a near-shutout over WestConn women’s lacrosse’s road trip partner. RIC swept doubles play and took five of six singles contests. Fourth-year Sairaj Srinivasan claimed the overall victory in a straight set win at third singles.
Thursday, April 16
Men’s tennis vs Suffolk University – W, 6-1
Two forfeits by Suffolk quickened the Thursday afternoon affair. First-year John Vaughan claimed the match at third singles with a straight-set win.
Baseball vs No. 3 Salve Regina University – L, 13-1
Fourth-year right fielder CJ Almagno’s solo shot punched in the only run for RIC as the hosts were set back by the number three team in Division III, and the top program in the region, Salve Regina. Third-year pitcher Stephen Sullivan started and took the loss.
Friday, April 17
Track and field @ Bonnie Edmondson Classic (Willimantic, CT)
Men: 2nd of eight, team score 123.0
The Anchormen saw five achieve first-place marks at the classic. Fourth-year Loudon Chupas claimed first in the high jump. Third-year Enrique Edjang finished first in the hammer. Second-years Jack McEntee (400-meter hurdles), Owen Schenck (800-meter) and Joshua Dabanka (triple jump) rounded out the top finishes for the men.
Women: 3rd of eight, team score 129.0
The Anchorwomen claimed four first-place finishes in the classic hosted by Eastern Connecticut State University. The 4x100-meter relay (first-years Naibel Noriega, Maire Scanlon and second-years Quiana Pezza, Bendu Kamara) earned the top spot in the event. Noriega finished first in the 400-meter (58.48), while Pezza saw herself as the top finisher in the 200-meter. First-year Shanna Correia rounded out the top Anchorwomen finishers with a first-place effort in the long jump.
Saturday, April 13
Men’s golf, RIC Spring Invitational (two-day recap) (Warwick, RI) – 3rd of nine, team score 611 (303, 308; +35)
The Valley Country Club’s par-72 course saw the hosting Anchormen finish inside the top three. Fourth-year Jasper Bruins Slot tied for second at the invitational, hoisting a two-day score of 146 (73, 73; +2). Third-year Mike Decesare followed with a two-day total of 151 (76, 76; +7).
Men’s tennis @ University of Southern Maine – W, 7-0
RIC kept their record spotless in their long road trip to Southern Maine, another sweep pushing the crew to a 4-0 record in-conference. Second-year James McShane and first-year John Vaughan shut down third and fourth singles, respectively, to help in the win.
Women’s lacrosse @ University of Southern Maine – L, 22-1
Second-year Brie Macaruso tallied the only punch-in for the Anchorwomen in their visiting loss to the Huskies. Third-year goalkeeper Giana Franco had three saves in defeat.
Baseball vs University of Massachusetts Boston
Game one: W, 4-2
UMass Boston was able to get on base plentifully, but strong defensive efforts from the hosts prevented the visitors from getting home. RIC charged up a 4-nothing lead in the second inning concluded by third-year second baseman Aidan Bolwell’s RBI sac fly. Second-year Ben Nowinski worked five innings and allowed just one run on five hits, dealing out four strikeouts, to earn his first win of the season.
Game two: W, 12-9
UMass Boston seemed to avenge their game one loss with a 3-0 lead built up through the first two innings, but RIC hammered away 12 runs in an offensive output the Beacons couldn’t match. RIC scored runs in six consecutive innings after being shut down in the first two. Fourth-year designated hitter and first-year third baseman Finn Boyle had home runs. Third-year pitcher Jake Foster notched a career-high eight strikeouts in the win, with classmate Alexander Iannucilli earning a save.
Softball at Vermont State University Castleton
Game one: L, 7-6
RIC constructed a 6-0 lead through three innings, but the LEC’s top softball team quickly erased the deficit in the next two innings, finishing up the comeback with a run in the seventh to take game one of the doubleheader. Second-year shortstop Joey Meyer went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Fourth-year pitcher Gabby Cunha took the loss.
Game two: L, 11-9
The hosts catapulted to an 8-0 advantage in the first inning. The visitors combined for seven runs in the third and fourth innings to limit the deficit, but trickled-in runs in the sixth and seventh couldn’t stop the sweep. Fourth-year second baseman Noelle Simmons went 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Third-year pitcher Ashleigh von der Linden took the loss to fall to .500.
