The Venom Within

Sh-Ron Almeida

Asst. Arts & Entertainment Editor

Like a boiler leaking over, I’ve reached the breaking point

Pulse pounding, nostrils flaring, a vision shrouded in red

My fists clenched hard, slamming them on walls and floors

A roar of a beast violently escaped my throat

Any restraint at that moment was millions of miles away

All I wanted was to be heard and feared

But instead, anger melted into sadness

Heart is heavy with a sudden illness

Nobody is willing to save me from my madness

I’m left with my thoughts of hopelessness

To hell with your assurance

I never needed it in the first place

Why build me up if you keep breaking me down?

A simple misunderstanding escalating into a battle of emotional abuse

Both sides relentless, corrupted by pride

Only to lock themselves away, a reconciliation refused

The people who love you the most are the ones who hurt you the worst in the end.

It doesn’t matter how much you give to others

They’ll just leave you behind after stabbing you with a venomous blade

Not unless you strike first
