Calling all student orgs: the Office of Student Activities is debuting a new series wherein you and your clubmates have a chance to prove who is RIC’s best student org. The first Battle of the Orgs event will take place Dec. 6, so ready your winning team for a night of fun and friendly competition.
Battle of the Orgs is a new series of events to be presented by the Office of Student Activities. Designed to engage and connect RIC’s student-run organizations, each event will put your org’s skills to the test. Not to mention there is prize money on the line that will be used to benefit your student org.
If your team wins one of the competitions to come, you will receive $100 to fund your organization and participation points. These points will be added up at the end of the series and the organization with the most points will be awarded an additional $500 prize. Funds can be used for activities, supplies and other ways of bettering your org.
The first event in the series will be a gingerbread house building contest on Wednesday, Dec. 6 from 12–2 p.m. in the Donovan Dining Center. Bond with your clubmates, get to know your fellow student organizations in the air of the holiday season and try your hand at cookie construction. Will you and your org keep it simple with a classic gingerbread cabin, or go big and create a candy castle?
“This is a fun way to earn funding for your organization as well as get to know other orgs!” Assistant Director of Student Activities, Amanda Alfano says. The winner of Battle of the Orgs: Gingerbread House Edition will be announced at the Winter Wonderland Dinner in Donovan at 7 p.m. Stay tuned to find out which student org will taste victory.
RSVP here for the gingerbread house contest next week and a chance to support your org. Org leaders and members should be on the lookout for future events to be announced by Student Activities. Do you think your clubmates have what it takes?
