Rhode Island College’s student-run radio station, 90.7 WXIN, has proved to be the epicenter of college life on campus. They hold a track record of throwing rockin’ concerts throughout the semester, and Rock Hunt is bound to be no different. To be spread out across three unforgettable shows this April, clear your Friday nights to jam out with WXIN.
Rock Hunt is RIC’s popular battle of the bands style event featuring a roster of local bands looking to reach new audiences. The competitors are picked by 90.7 WXIN members to ensure three spectacular shows and friendly rivalry.
The first night, April 5, is set to feature bands Rose Tint, Dogtree, Grenadine and The Hopeless Romantics. The second night, April 12, will include bands Fermat, Moss Boy, Borrasca and returning campus favorite Appala’s Eclipse. On both nights, students will be able to vote for their favorite musicians, allowing them to move onto night three in a tournament-style twist.
Amp up for the third night to take place April 19, where the bands in competition will be awarded first, second and third place. Winning cash prizes of $1000, $700 and $300 respectively, the stakes are high for these musicians and for students, as it is up to you to choose the victor. Who will take home the grand prize?
On each night, The Beestro’s doors will open at 7:00 p.m. with music to start at 7:30 p.m. Entry is $5 with a RIC student ID and $8 for guests. For the ultimate Rock Hunt experience, visit The Beestro all three nights to scout out the possible winner and perhaps a new favorite to add to your spring playlist.
Finals are nearing and tensions are high. To unwind during downtime, join 90.7 WXIN and friends in The Beestro’s pit and let loose. Not only will audience members be supporting RIC’s media organizations but a collection of local talent who has been given the chance to step into the spotlight.
Those interested can find more information and updates on WXIN’s Instagram. Will we see you at Rock Hunt?
