Women’s Tennis sweep two teams

Rhode Island College’s Women’s Tennis team has been dominating the competition. The Anchorwomen did not lose a single match in the two meets they had this week.


The first game the Anchorwomen played this week was against the Suffolk University Rams. The Anchorwomen did not lose a single set in the singles category. The #1 singles, Lauren Macera, won both of her sets by a score of 6-3. This gave her her first singles win in her career at Rhode Island College. The Anchorwomen rallied around Macera, winning the other 5 singles matches. Amara Devine was outstanding in her singles match. Devine won both of

her sets by a dominant score of 6-1.


The Anchorwomen also won all three of their matches in the doubles category. Headlined by the #1 doubles team of Amirah Sommer and Devine. They won their match by a score of 8-3. Erica Botelho, Anna Vygoder, Li hsiu Hou and Lauren Bilodeau were all impressive as well. All four of these women won both singles and doubles matches. This led RIC to have a clean sweep with an overall victory of 9-0.


The Anchorwomen then went on the road to play the Castleton


University Spartans. This match was headlined by the doubles. In the three doubles matches, the Anchorwomen only lost two games. The #1 doubles team of Macera and Botelho won their match with a convincing score of 8-0.


The singles matches were not competitive. The most games surrendered in a set was two. Macera looked great as the #1 single once again. She won both of her sets by a score of 6-2. Macera is a player that can do it all and it shows with her performanc



es. Bilodeau also had an impressive win as the #6 singles. She won both of her sets by a score of 6-1. Vygoder and Devine both had sets where they didn’t lose a single game. With awesome performances by all women, the overall match ended with another 9-0 sweep victory.


In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen look to continue the success with a home match against the Clark University Cougars this upcoming Thursday.
