Waking up on Monday, March 28, I’m sure you were bound to have seen what took place the night prior, and if not, no need to panic – everything you’ll need to be up to date is right here.

The Dolby Theater located in Hollywood hosted the 94th annual Academy awards, otherwise known as the Oscars, probably the most important night of any actors or actresses’ life. Many celebrities were in attendance, including – but not limited to – Zendaya, Lil Nas X, Ariana DeBose, Chris Rock (the host of the evening's event), Jada Pinkett Smith, and her husband Will Smith.

The evening was going pretty well for the most part, until Chris Rock made the mistake of poking fun at Jada Pinkett Smith, saying: “Jada, I love you- can’t wait for GI Jane 2.” In many clips showing the altercation, it is seen that Jada Smith mouths something over to Will, thus initiating the sudden decision of Will Smith to walk up on stage and smack Chris Rock, making many in the audience and at home drop their jaws! Some even believed this was a secret joke between the two but trust me, it was not.

Once he reached his seat again, Will Smith did proceed to shout explicits at Chris Rock after the host tried to explain that his comment was “just a joke.” However, I should note that Jada Smith has been diagnosed with Alopecia and has been going strong ever since, taking her condition seriously.

Many celebrities who saw this transpire in person have spoken since; Zoe Kravitz taking to Instagram captioning: “And here is a picture of my dress at the party after the award show -where we are apparently screaming profanities and assaulting people on stage now."

Whereas Nicki Minaj took a different approach and said, “The husband gets a front row seat to his wife’s pain… he’s the 1 consoling her… drying her tears behind closed doors when those cameras go off,” continuing “Social media has made [people] feel that these 'husbands' won’t ever run into them in real life.”

Will Smith did proceed to win the award for Best Actor – yet the Academy is reviewing that because of his actions that transpired that night. Chris Rock has reassured those who were curious that everything is still “all love” between him and Will. To that, the world is slowly beginning to move on from the events that went down at the Oscars that night. This past weekend Chris Rock performed a stand up comedy event that sold out very quickly, as fans hoped he was going to talk about the incident live.

Repercussions are still in full effect as Will Smith has resigned from the Academy entirely and has apologized to Chris Rock, The Academy, the attendees and the fans that look up to him. Needless to say, that smack definitely caught the attention of the whole world.
