RIC’s Homecoming at a glance

RIC Alumni Foundation is hosting yet another Homecoming weekend for current students, alumni and RIC families to enjoy from Oct. 15-17. Previous Homecoming weekends have been enjoyable across the RIC community with last year’s including a family festival and a concert from 20RIDE!, a Zac Brown tribute band. RIC’s Alumni Foundation is always looking to improve and this year they hope to create another memorable event.

Homecoming weekend begins on Thursday Oct. 15 with Anchor Madness, an annual preseason showcase of RIC’s men’s and women’s basketball teams at 8 p.m. This year the event will include food, games and cash prizes. 

Friday begins at 11 a.m. with the Golden Anchors Brunch celebrating all alumni who graduated in or before 1977. These alumni will have the opportunity to reconnect with former classmates, share memories and listen to a keynote from President Jack Warner all while enjoying brunch.

RIC’s men’s and women’s volleyball teams play a friendly game against each other at 5 p.m. in the Murray Center followed by a gymnastics performance inspired by the animated film Rio courtesy of the gymnastics team at 6:30 p.m. At 7 p.m. current RIC students looking for Friday night plans will have the opportunity to attend Glow All Out, a glow themed dance party in the Student Union. At 7:30 p.m. NYC based dance troupe Ephrat Asherie Dance will perform in Sapinsley Hall.

Saturday is Homecoming weekend’s most eventful day. This day begins at 10 a.m. with the induction of the Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2026. For additional information including location and ticket prices please contact athletics at 401-456-8007. From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Admissions will also be hosting campus tours beginning at Gaige Hall.

One of the most memorable events of Homecoming is the Family Festival, which will take place from 12-3 p.m. on the Intramural Field. Enjoy food trucks, a petting zoo, a golf cart parade, the opportunity to help tuft a RIC themed rug and much more. At 1 p.m. there will also be a women’s soccer game at Alumni Field.

At 5 p.m. Donovan Dining Center is hosting a Trip Around Rhode Island Dinner which will include many different foods known in Rhode Island such as clam cakes, chowder, stuffies and grilled pizza. This is a good opportunity for those who are new to Rhode Island to try some of the state’s most famous food as well as those who are from Rhode Island and want to enjoy a good night with good food. 

Homecoming weekend culminates with RIC Night at the Rhode Island FC game as they play the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. All attendees will receive a complimentary RIC x RIFC scarf and there will be a group photo on the field after the game.
