Womens volleyball vs Curry College – W, 3-0 (25-7, 25-14, 27-25)

Fourth-year outside hitter Marina Colonis notched her 1,000th dig in RIC’s dominant win over Curry. After ripping through the opening two frames, the Colonels made it tight in the third set against RIC reserves, but the Anchorwomen pulled away with a strong comeback effort down 19-13. Second-year outside hitter Jocelyn Sigouin-Adorno punched in 10 kills, while fourth-year setter Grace Luchka had 15 assists.

Wednesday, Oct. 28

Womens soccer vs Eastern Connecticut State University – T, 1-1

Second-year midfielder Bryn Williams’ first collegiate goal came against a first-place Eastern squad in the 40th minute to bring the hosts an early advantage, but the Warriors fired back in the 68th minute to even the affair and force the shared points. Fourth-year Nicole Nunes excelled with 11 saves in the draw. The tie locked RIC down to the fifth seed.

Mens soccer @ Eastern Connecticut State University – T, 0-0

The regular season ended with a scoreless tie for the Anchormen, but they were fiery on offense, outpacing the Warriors, 19-to-8, led by third-year midfielders Nathan Capelo and Joe Kelly’s eight combined looks. Fourth-year Elhadji Ndoye had five saves in the clean sheet.

Thursday, Oct. 29

Womens volleyball @ Wheaton College (Mass.) – L, 3-0 (13-25, 12-25, 23-25)

Fourth-year libero Carolyn Bailey notched her 1,000th career dig in the losing sweep against the Lyons. A third-set comeback rally fell just short for the Anchorwomen as they had only a .056 hit percentage. Fourth-year outside hitter Sarina Marines had six kills, while classmate setter Yuleisy Alvelo notched 11 assists.

Cross country @ Little East Championship (Castleton, VT)

Men: ninth of nine teams, team score 239

First-year Jahmel Rodrigues finished first with a 41st-place effort, timing at 28:37.1. Fourth-year Andrew Frezza finished 13 spots behind with a time of 29:13.4. The meet saw a field of 90 runners.

Women: eighth of nine teams, team score 213

First-year Kristen Fountaine earned All-Little East Conference Honors with a ninth-place effort in a field of 84 runners, recording a time of 23:48.1. Second-year Grace Lane finished 46th with a time of 26:10.1.

Womens volleyball vs Western Connecticut State University – W, 3-1 (25-17, 25-21, 23-25, 29-27)

In their final match at home, RIC avoided the dastardly reverse sweep and edged WestConn in four to conclude their Murray Center contests 7-4. Fourth-year middle blocker Andrayah Williams had 15 kills and six blocks in the win, while classmate outside hitters Sarina Marines and Marina Colonis each pitched in double-doubles. The victory keeps a glimpse of hope alive for the women in the Little East playoff race.

No. 3 mens soccer vs No. 6 Eastern Connecticut State University (Little East Mens Soccer Championship) – W, 3-0

Three goals in the first half did more than enough to help the Anchormen in a swift victory over the sixth-seed Eastern. Fourth-year midfielder Alijah Nunes and second-years Randy Vang and Moise Augustin each registered goals to help advance the Anchormen to the next round. First-year goalkeeper Jake Raymond was stellar with four saves in the win.

No. 5 womens soccer @ No. 4 University of Southern Maine (Little East Womens Soccer Championship) – W, 3-2

It’s an upset win for the Anchorwomen as they would hold off a Husky comeback and win their first Little East playoff match in 19 years. Second-year midfielder Sarah Pimentel struck both the team’s opening and match-deciding goal. Fourth-year forward Amber Almeida notched her first season goal two minutes prior. Fourth-year Nicole Nunes made four saves in her ninth victory of the year.
