Womens tennis vs Clark University – W, 7-0

The sweep is RIC’s fourth shutout of the year. Second-year Addison Hadlock and third-year Arianna DeThomas paired up at second doubles to win easily and clinch the doubles point for the hosts. Hadlock then won at fifth singles to clinch the overall victory for RIC.

Mens soccer vs United States Coast Guard Academy – L, 2-0

The Anchormen had various scoring opportunities, but the Coast Guard did as their job entailed and defended their territory well, holding the hosts to a shutout. Fourth-year goalkeeper Elhadji Ndoye accrued five saves in the loss.

Wednesday, Sept. 23

Mens golf @ Brett Williamson Invitational (Westfield, MA) – T-2nd of 11 teams, 322 (+38)

The Anchormen tied with the hosts of the invitational, Westfield State, to continue their successful fall campaign. Fourth-year Max Nasser and second-year Ryan Gervais each carded a 79 (+8) to tie for seventh in the par-71 course.

Womens soccer vs Brandeis University – L, 1-0

Fourth-year goalkeeper Nicole Nunes was busy in net with 11 saves (season-high), but the visitors entered in the match-deciding goal with two minutes to go in the first half that the Anchorwomen couldn’t avenge.

Friday, Sept. 25

Womens soccer vs University of Southern Maine – W, 1-0

Amber Almeida and Aryanna Tirado aided Sarah Pimentel in scoring the match-deciding goal to bring the hosts to 2-1 in Little East Conference play. The visitors were held to eight shots, all not on target. For fourth-year goalkeeper Nicole Nunes, it is her fourth shutout of the year.

Womens volleyball vs Johnson and Wales University – L, 3-2 (25-15, 25-14, 17-25, 27-29, 14-16)

After a wildly dominant opening two sets from the hosts, JWU exacted a reverse sweep to stun the hosts in five sets. Fourth-year setters Yuleisy Alvelo and Grace Luchka totaled for 39 assists. Second-year defensive specialist Caroline Morrell earned a season-high five service aces.

Saturday, Sept. 26

Womens volleyball vs Plymouth State University – L, 3-2 (25-19, 23-25, 19-25, 25-22, 15-6)

Back-to-back days with five-set contests both ended in losses for the Anchorwomen. After a ferocious fourth set in which the hosts came out on top, the energy fell flat as the visitors entered the final set with a 5-0 run. Fourth-year middle hitter Andrayah Williams registered a career-high 19 kills. Third-year defensive specialist Daniella Escudero had a match-high five service aces.

Mens soccer @ University of Southern Maine – W, 2-1

Second-year forward Kody Poplaski popped in the match-deciding goal in the 83rd minute, assisted by classmate midfielder Randy Vang. The hosts made a costly error with an own goal in the 32nd minute to put RIC on the board. Fourth-year goalkeeper Elhadi Ndoye did not need to make a save to earn the win and move to 3-2-1 in RIC’s second win in-conference.
