The Office of Residential Life and Housing is looking for Resident Assistants for the 2023-2024 academic year. The next information session will be held virtually on Dec. 12 at 5pm. A link will be sent to all students. This information session is not mandatory in order to apply, but it is highly encouraged that all who are interested in applying attend this session.
The role of an RA involves focusing on creating a safe, welcoming environment for students in the resident halls. It is the RAs that help make the college dorm experience one to remember. In addition to fostering a supportive environment, the RA helps to foster a sense of community, guides students to academic resources, is a listening ear when needed, and is attentive to the safety and security of their assigned dorm. RAs are also tasks with the responsibility of making sure that the residence hall rules are followed.
An RA is a special person, as it takes someone who is flexible enough to handle a number of roles and responsibilities, depending on the changing needs of the students. Students who are RAs are more than just a friendly face, a listening ear or a helpful hand. They are the link to assisting students to develop independence, live cooperatively with others and creating an environment that fosters academic and personal success.
RAs are compensated with room and board in their assigned residence hall, as well as with a small semesterly stipend.
All interested students, both commuter and residential, are encouraged to apply. Applications go live on Tuesday, Dec. 13.
Those who are unable to attend the information session, or have any questions prior to the session can reach out to Chris Higgins via email at chiggins@ric.edu.
