Billboard Hot 100 rapper JT to perform at RIC Revival

Get ready, RIC. Billboard Hot 100 artist and rapper JT was announced last Thursday to headline RIC Revival, performing alongside two Providence-based openers, Plastyc Peachez and Kunle, on March 19, 2026. 

The cryptic @ricrevival Instagram page popped up on students’ Explore pages in November, with rumors circulating of a large-scale campus concert in the works. The performer was kept anonymous until last Thursday at a campus Murder Mystery Dinner, when Student Entertainment Committee (SEC) Chair Tess Sullivan pulled back the curtain, revealing that rapper JT would be making her RIC debut.

Based in Miami, JT’s career began in 2017 as one half of the popular hip-hop duo City Girls, alongside Yung Miami. Together, the pair released several hits, including “Act Up,” and amassed 3.2 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Meanwhile, JT’s solo career was taking off. 

JT featured on fellow artist Doechii's popular song “Alter Ego” in 2024. Later that year, JT released “Sideways” and “OKAY,” hits that reached gold and platinum status, respectively. Followers of the Billboard Hot 100 might have seen “OKAY” reach spot 72 in 2024 due to its quick success. 

Now, JT is nearing 6 million listeners on Spotify. Known for her upbeat, danceable tracks, JT’s music is wildly popular in the nightlife scene — frequenters of EGO Providence should know “Alter Ego” as the club’s unofficial theme song — and among the LGBTQ+ community, which JT enthusiastically supports. 

That is not all. Indie band Plastyc Peachez will open for JT alongside Kunle, a Rhode Island based rapper, providing RIC’s audience with a taste of what goes on in our local, small but fervent, music scene.
