PROVIDENCE, R.I., — After an exciting month of RICFEST 2021, on Saturday, Oct. 30, the Alumni Association at Rhode Island College (RIC) is hosting a Drive-Thru Trick or Treating event. Since the event will be occurring during the last weekend in the month of October, this event will be one of the final events of RICFEST 2021 Homecoming & Family Weekends.
This is the second year the event will be held. To provide a brief history of the event, the Drive-Thru Trick or Treat experience started during RICFEST a year prior in 2020. This was one of the many events going on during that year where the Alumni Association was looking for socially distanced and safe activities that they could organize for the RIC community.
The event was a success last year. That combined with the fact that RICFEST has occurred throughout the month of October is why the Alumni Association sees this as a great opportunity to provide trick-or-treating and give alumni families a chance to come back to campus and enjoy the festivities. RIC alumni’s families are invited to the RIC campus and encouraged to be in their best Halloween costumes for this trick-or-treating event that will be fun for the whole family.
The event itself will take place from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Those who were interested in attending had the opportunity to pre-register on Eventbrite. During the event, those who are attending will drive up to the first stop at the Kauffman Center (Building 10) and receive a guided map and bag for candy collection. Everyone attending is asked to stay in their car throughout the event.
In total the Drive-Thru experience will have 10 stops throughout campus, each stop decorated with spooky and fun Halloween decorations. Campus community members, including staff, faculty and students are volunteering at each station along the route to hand out candy to participants.
As of today, the event is sold out. However, the Alumni Association is taking waitlist requests. Those who still are interested in attending, but were not able to pre-register, can request to be put on a waiting list by emailing email@example.com.
