Anchormen Wrestling is now 6-9 overall on the season after their most current loss against Wesleyan University 27-13.

Wesleyan, only 2-3 on the season as the Anchormen fell short, but leading the way for them was Nathan Lackman, Fred Luchs, and Daniel Sblendorio. They all secured wins to help boost their chances of coming back after being down by so much.

One of the Anchormen to watch out for is Freshman Fred Luchs, as he has been putting in work all season. Currently ranked 6th in the Northeast for men's wrestling, he started off this match with a 12-0 major decision at 125 pounds.

However, Luchs' efforts weren't enough to keep the momentum going as Wesleyan won the next three bouts, which included a pair of major decisions, to build an 11-4 advantage.

Despite not winning this match, this Anchormen team has some true stars. Not only is Freshman Fred Luchs ranked 6th in the Northeast, but Junior Nate Lackman currently holds the number one spot and is 5th nationally ranked.

"The team feeds off of his energy. We know collectively as a whole we need to get a little bit better and work together to collectively win. Nate does so much in practice with his teammates that everyone else picks upon which is what we need moving forward," Head Coach Jay Jones post-game after Wesleyan loss.

Lackman picked up his 21st win of the season with a 7-1 decision over Wesleyan Junior Aaron Goldman, who is currently ranked 4th in the Northeast.

After Lackman's performance, Wesleyan took the next three bouts to secure the win with Junior Marco Gaita's 13-3 major decision at 174 pounds.

The Anchormen have been in close matchups all year and continue to keep up their efforts, as they are not done yet.

They look to get back on track Friday, February 4th on the road against Johnson and Wales University.
