Through five games to start the season the Anchormen’s tennis team finds themselves in a great spot with a 5-0 record. They have defended their home as well as anyone could have asked for with their 4-0 play while at RIC. The Anchormen found themselves in the win column against Albert Magnus College with a 5-4 score, Wentworth Institute of Technology with a 6-3 performance, a 9-0 shutout against Curry College and 6-3 wins against both Salve Regina and University of Southern Maine.

Senior Alex Bourque helped the cause after winning not only No.1 singles but doubles as well to begin RIC’s conference play. Bourque found himself paired up with freshmen Noah Morin and they did not disappoint. The two combined for an 8-1 victory. On the day, the Anchormen won two of three wins in doubles.

Freshman Elijah Gouin contributed a lot on the road in the team win. Not only did he win at No.4 singles but he went 2-0 after managing to pick up a win at No. 3 doubles. Performances like these give the fans excitement knowing that he has plenty of tennis left to play for RIC as the foundation for a great career is building.

Morin sealed the deal with a straight set (6-0, 6-2) win at No. 3 singles.

The team has a strong leadership presence with seniors at the top who are paving the way for the current freshmen to take the mantle and lead the Anchormen into the future.

RIC will be resting so they can be ready to go up against Salem State at home on Saturday, April 9.
