Another successful day in office for the Anchormen this week as they took down the Castleton Spartans strong in two blowout wins on their home grounds this past Saturday.

Before this matchup, the Anchormen hosted Amherst College at home as well, and nothing new as they were dominant in a 14-1 win.

But this past Saturday, April 9, the two wins in their double header against the Spartans was the highlight of the week.

Senior Joey Coro belted three total home runs between the two games, and Sean Helfrich joined the action in Game 1 with a grand slam of his own. The Anchormen ended up outscoring the Spartans 29-2 on the day. Game 1 was where it started with Sophomore pitcher Andrew Sears. He would secure his fifth win of the season on the mound and only hold the Spartans to one run coming from the fourth inning. Game 1 also put Coro into a rhythm in the batter's box, securing two of his three homers on the day. He also walked, brought in four runs and crushed a double up the third base line early on to start. Game 1 would end in a 18-1 Anchormen victory.

Game 2 the Spartans tried to come back for revenge scoring a quick first run taking the lead fast over the Anchormen, but not if Jarrad Grossguth had anything to say about it. He got the bats going for the Anchormen to start getting on the board quickly with an RBI double in the first inning.

Helfrich wasn’t done yet either. He hit another home run, making that two in a day for him - and right after Coro would follow up with his third.

With the Anchormen simply dominating and having full control through each contest, Freshman Daniel Trzepacz would hit a bomb out in deep right field for a walk off homer, concluding Game 2 with an 11-1 victory.

Connor Davey was the man on the mound in that one securing his third win on the season now sitting at 3-2 on the mound.

Anchormen now 14-6-1 on the season and have had a tremendous open to conference play advancing to a 5-1 record in the Little East. The team will travel over to UMass Dartmouth for their next matchup Tuesday, April 12, and will return to Pontarelli Field April 14 to face off against Curry College.
