Thank You for Everything

Sh-Ron Almeida

Asst. Arts & Entertainment Editor

I know it wasn’t easy for you

Putting up with me was a struggle

But you stayed with me anyway

Because you loved me so

It’s going to sound corny

But I’ll say it anyway

You stayed with me through thick and thin

Always had the right things to say

Never shoved me away, even when you were tried

If you could move the mountains for me, then I’ll swim through streams if it meant seeing you again

Of course, there was always a chance for us to be torn apart

We both knew the reaper would come for one of us someday

I was meant to take the blow

But you stood in front, protecting me

Now, I’m all alone, with nothing but memories to fill the void

For a time, the darkness consumed me

Others said all wounds can heal, but mine are still raw and fresh

Little devils whispered in my ear, urging me to drown in misery

Somehow, your voice was stuck in my head, bringing me back to the light

There were so many things left unsaid

So, I’ll write them down in this poem

And hope you’ve heard them well

Thank you

Thank you for bringing me into this world

Thank you for watching over me

Thank you for laughing with me

Thank you for loving me

Thank you for teaching me

Thank you for the gifts you’ve given me

Thank you for everything
