Rhode Island College offers sustainability for the future of emerging RIC leaders with a 2021 rendition leadership model. The Emerging Leaders Program is designed to establish a foundation for students looking to become confident, aware, engaged leaders ready to realize their potential. Students are said to be able to discover more about themselves through participation in a series of fun and interactive workshops which will include experiential learning opportunities. This program, which is intended for Rhode Island College undergraduates, is free and limited to a first come first serve basis.
The workshops created for this program are categorized into key areas that include: Leadership, Presentation and Personal Branding, Self-Awareness, Values and Personal Mission, Introduction to Difference, Wellness and Balance, Mentorship, and finally Public Speaking. Emerging Leaders will build upon skills that undergrads already possess and are still working towards with their degrees.
The Emerging Leaders Program will meet virtually throughout the duration of the spring semester. Kicking off with an orientation Friday, March 5th from 2:00-4:00pm, the series workshops will meet throughout the semester on most Friday afternoons from 2:00 pm-4:00pm, ending with a completion ceremony and certificate presentations on April 16th. This program consists of no tests, nor any traditional homework assignments.
Student participation is benefited by individual recognition as a student leader with Rhode Island College; developing resume credentials and networking; practicing skills to be a successful global citizen and future professional; exposure to various ethics and ideas, as well as experiences; lastly, by making new friends and having fun. All interested undergraduate students aspiring to learn accountability, empowerment, good moral decision making, and effective communication with commitment and persuasion, are highly encouraged to apply for the program.
RIC's Student Leadership & Community Service is an organization built upon the principles of exceptional leadership, and is the organization responsible for the Emerging Leaders program and the RIC Leadership Weekend. Graduate Assistant of Student Leadership & Community Service at Rhode Island College, Stephen Masi, sent out an email stating students are selected through an online application by Friday, February 26, 2021.
