MSNBC vs. Fox Who’s really fair and balanced?

It has been a known fact amongst the civilized world that Fox News Channel is a partisan institution. They do not display news so much as they display right-wing propaganda. They tell conservative republicans exactly what they want to hear, often fudging facts or even outright lying to show the outcome that they want and make themselves and their base look better.
In recent years it has seemed that the left-wing answer is MSNBC. Many people go about saying that MSNBC is essentially Fox News with a left-leaning bias instead of a right. It is true that many of MSNBC's anchors declare their liberalism proudly. And yet, as a regular watcher of many MSNBC programs, I begin to see some fundamental differences.
First of all, the people at Fox will never admit they are wrong. Even when undeniable proof and figures are staring them in the face, they never back down. On the other hand, I have seen MSNBC make retractions and apologies in cases where they may have made a mistake, like most real news organizations do. Secondly, Fox never throws any Republican under the bus except in the extremely rare cases when it's the party consensus. MSNBC always reports when a Democrat has legitimately crossed the line. Fox casts liberals as villains and thieves for doing anything that comes close to what they praised conservatives for. They just called the crazed tea-bag protesters admirable patriots for actions that were just as bad as or worse than liberal anti-war protestors they earlier trashed as un-American and stupid. For MSNBC, either it is all okay, or none of it is, and regardless on your feelings on things you lose if you bring up Hitler (see my article from a few weeks back).
You can say, "Yes, but someone like Keith Olbermann gets just as pompous and vitriolic as someone like Bill O'Reilly."
Perhaps, but in Olbermann's case it may be partially justified as A.) He actually checks his facts before he goes on air, and B.) He's retaliating against blowhards like O'Reilly who run at the mouth without any thought for anyone else. To this you may say, "Two wrongs don't make a right." But most of the other news media seems too afraid to call the conservatives out on their BS, and the truth must come out.
You might not want to count on MSNBC for most other kinds of news, since they tend to gloss over all but the most pressing current event stories in favor of politics. But it is in the realm of politics that MSNBC, despite the leanings of their hosts, can provide the most accurate reporting I have seen. No, I do not always agree with everything the commentators say, but I am at least confident that I have been shown all the facts.

Both Fox and MSNBC are biased, however, if you truly fact check both of them, Fox loses miserably. Each has their own slant on everything, but Fox is more of a propoganda machine by far.

The bias of both news channels is very obvious. CNN seems moderate or neutral, but that's only because they swing both left and right so much that they seem that way. Actually, MSNBC and FOX aren't really even news channels. I have seen both and most of what they talk about is just POLITICS. Since when, when, has POLITICS=NEWS?! Politics is ruining our country. However, if I had to view either MSNBC or FOX, I would watch MSNBC. At least they criticize both sides. They (MSNBC) are not in bed with Obama, they've crtiticized him as well. They have criticized Democrats as well, not just Republicans. FOX, however, just goes on spontaneous rants doing nothing but criticizing Democrats, without even bothering to point out some of the Republicans' mistakes. I do acknowledge, though, that the Democrats make bad choices as well. Blagojevich was an example. I can see both sides of the argument.

When I want a good laugh, I watch FOX Entertainment aka News. When I want the truth, well let's just say, it is getting harder and harder to find it. People, please don't believe everything you hear, especially on these mainstream shows no matter what channel they’re on. They only exist to entertain a target audience, to boost politicians’ egos and to steer overworked, tired, foggy-eyed, people to their agenda. If you want to know the truth, you’re going to have to work for it. There is not one source that is going to provide the whole truth. If you are watching these so called shows for news, then snap out of it. I mean really, do you think for one second that anyone there really cares about the news? They are there to make money, period.

As for bloggers, I can’t say I have much experience with them but I can imagine that anyone with a computer can write whatever they want. And with no real consequences for rambling out lies, I’m sure they WILL write whatever THEY want. Only a fool would take what they hear or read as the whole truth. You need to check and recheck the facts. Few people have enough spare time to peel back all of the smoke and mirror layers to get to the truth, which is why many people today don’t have a solid grasp on the whole picture.

So if you are someone who is watching FOX News, or any other mainstream news program, expecting real news, then I have some swamp land in Florida we should talk about…

Fox is right, MSNBC is left---both propaganda for each party. If you watch Fox nightly talk shows or MSNBC nightly talk shows you are getting biased information--period. Washington was hijacked by money along time ago. Next election vote out every incumbant and throw the lobbyists out and maybe we'll get our country back. Until the lobbyists get thrown out nothing will change. Our founding fathers wanted the senators and congressman to represent the people of the state they come from. They wanted to elect common people to those positions, not professional politicians. Wake up people---both channels are biased!!

Viewing Fox lately makes me feel ill..
I was just watching the history channel about the Rise of Adolf Hitler. How Hitler used the media and manufactured so called Facts that were total lies. To present his views , concepts & ideas.
I voted republican in 2 of the last 3 elections. I am ashamed to be a part of the party of NO now. I am so distraught That the leaders of the Republican party's views are now expressed by and through Rush Limbaugh, Shaun Hannity, Glen Beck & Bill O' Reilly. I consider my self a true patriot, and was in the US army security agency 1968 -1974.
There Is a more moderate view out there. This is where the majority of us Americans are.
Give our president a chance to be successful

I will tell you what i was going email hardball about after a comment was made last evening concerning bloggers. Mathews stated that bloggers sit in their basements and make comments that i supposed he did not like. That Comes with the territory if you get on the networks and and make inane statements that refer to bloggers in the same vain as a contributor on the Oreily factor the other night. What Mathews and the other commentator do not like is the fact that emailers and bloggers became the journalists of a new age in communication. We are not lunching and dining with the people who were supposed to be investigating . Case in point VALERIE JARRETT and her connection with with a slum complex in Chicago. Keith Olbermann has much of the same views of the last two names I mentioned. That the bloggers are invading their sacred territory. This happened because so called media types glossed over the truth about politicians and there ties with the media powerbrokers. The Tea Parties demonstrated that people have figured you folks out. It started with talk radio and now the internet. Get ready, a new day has dawned. We will no longer sit idly by and let the media pick our president and congress. Either get on board or get out of the way. The media has failed in its sacred duty to the public. GO GLENN BECK.

Fox News Channel is partisan???? They do tend to lean more toward conservatism, however, MSNBC and NBC are so extremely partisan, it's almost laughable. Thank goodness for FNC to expose ACORN, SEIU, Czar Van Jones, and will continue to expose more. Just stay tuned. MSNBC and NBC are owned by GE CEO Jeff Immelt who is in bed with the Obamas and all of the other White House corrupt cabinet members such as Valerie Jarrett. All this corruption stems back to the corrup politicians in Chicago. Thank God for Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity and the others.

About Google,

I have a Question..... I have noticed that when I do a Google search on my machine at home that the results tend to be fairly relevant to me. When doing the same search on my Mother's machine this is not the case, which I am assuming is because her "Cookie" and search history are different than mine. The search results seem to be more relevant to her, which I also assume is the goal, Tailored Search results. If this indeed the case, is this type of search algorithm used across the board? I ask this because I noticed a disturbing trend. When I search on political issues most if not all of the results are of the Left leaning type which I admit are relevant to me. Doing the same search on my mothers machine the results are mostly of the far right bent and are relevant to her. These types of results while great for durable goods and services seem detrimental to the public in search of balanced discourse. My mother ( "Who is not at all computer literate" ) thinks that the search results are the totality of what's on the Net and I am sure that there are a great many people just like her. There seems to be some sort of positive reinforcement loop thing going on where " I'll only tell you, what you want to hear. ". When so many people today use Google as their primary way to gather News I just wonder if the " I'll only tell you, what you want to hear. " type of results is "aiding and abetting" the divisions in our country. I also wonder about the unintended consequences of this sort of "BUILT-IN" Media Bias?

The people at MSNBC are so out of step with the American people and what is happening to our country that it is almost laughable. When are you going to pull your heads out of the sand and see what is going on in the real America. CBS has started to come around and even Katie Couric on the evening news is reporting the news as it happens, disreguarding the feelings of the Obama administration. Your job is to report the news, not make the news. No wonder your rankings are so low.

Spot On Adam. Good piece. Although I wouldn't call Mr. Olbermann pompous. He is being an entertainer as well as a political commentator. The only way you can characterize him as pompous is if you dislike his politics.

And to the first commenter here. NPR has always been left leaning, for as long as I've been listening, and I've been listening for the better part of 20 years, so your point about them becoming left leaning is a bit disingenuous.

CNN is moderate and centrist. MSNBC is left leaning. Fox is right leaning. And frankly that is ok, Fox doesn't get under anyones skin. Never has, never will. Don't know where you get your propaganda, son, but it smacks of fantasy. No one hates fox. At best those of us on the left make fun of the stupidity and lies that we see that come from that source.

Fox couldn't drive me crazy, because they are nothing but a tv station. Aaaaaaaand because you can't drive someone crazy who already lives in loonyland, which i clearly do because I'm responding to you. And dammit I make crazy look good, you just make it look silly.

Take the N.Y. Slimes and the over V. the L.A. Slimes BTW.

Hmmm. I couldn't dissagree with you more. I started listening to NPR in the early 80s and supported them for many years. They do have some very good programs they put out but over time they just moved to the Left. That's ok. They can be center left. Then for years I watched CNN. I don't remember any other choice for years. They were always center of left but I think they haved moved even more left. Afer years of listening and wondering why I was depressed listening to these programs, FOX news came on and gave the American People a real choice. It seems that it's OK to a lot of people for new stations to come on the air, as long as they are just like all the rest left leaning media. Don't insult my intelligence, and any other readers, by arguing that the media is staffed by anything but left leaning writers, editors, etc. That's OK, as long as the rest of us have at least one place we can turn to get the other side. Without FOX it would be all day left, every day. You hate fox becuae they get under your skin. Guess what! You have MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN. You don't have FOX and you can't stand it! MY GOD there is someone out there that is killing these others becaue when people want to know what's really going on, they will turn to FOX, unless they are far left, then they have an ABC soup of choices. I am still waiting for someone to come out and compete against the L.A Slimes and the N.Y. Slimes. They will KILL them when they do. I would buy their papers, but not the butt wipe stuff on the newsstands now.

Go FOX. Keep driving them crazy!!!! We love itl
