So who thought that radio theatre went out with the invention of the television? It certainly must not have, as Trinity Rep. Radio Theater is presenting its popular radio show with an alternative theme of classic fairy tales later this month.

It is "a magical hour that feels timeless, with performances that entertain and illuminate," says Joe O'Connor, General Manager of WRNI, the Radio Theater's broadcasting station. He goes on to say that it is "a smoothly intertwined mix of conversation and context resulting in remarkable storytelling - as if you had the finest actors and their director around your kitchen table."

This upcoming weekend's episode features Curt Columbus and resident Trinity Rep. company actors Stephen Berenson, Angela Brazil, and Phyllis Kay. Some of the featured stories include Hans Christian Andersen's The Steadfast Tin Soldier; Oscar Wilde's The Nightingale and the Rose; The Grimm Brothers' The Clever Farmer's Daughter, King Thrush-Beard and Clever Hans, and the classic Anne Sexton poem, Cinderella.

Hosted by Bob Seay of WRNI's Morning Edition, the episode will air on WRNI 1290AM Providence, 1230AM Westerly, and 102.7FM Narragansett on October 5 at 8:00p.m., October 6 at 1:00p.m. and October 7 at 11:00a.m. Archived episodes and podcasts can be obtained for free online at www.wrni.org.
